After just seven months in office, the president and CEO of the Greek infrastructure operator OSE, Kostas Spiliopoulos, has resigned.
According to press reports, the resignation of Spiliopoulos—who himself a member of parliament for the opposition KINAL party representing the region of Achaia (the region around Patras), is likely due primarily to significant disagreements with Infrastructure Minister Karamanlis and may also be related to the deadlocked situation regarding the new railway line through Patras and to internal party disputes.
Since this position is a political appointment, there are fears that it will remain unfilled for an extended period.
