Two More Smartron Units for E-P Rail

On July 24, 2020, locomotives 192 004 and 005—the second and third of a total of four Siemens Smartron locomotives destined for the Romanian freight railway E-P Rail—began their journey to their new home. Locomotive 183 500 from Railadventure is providing traction for the first leg of the journey.

UTZ-Smartron in Auslieferung

Die beiden Siemens Smartron für die rumänische Güterbahn S.C. Unicom Tranzit S.A. (UTZ) befinden sich gerade auf Überführung in das zukünftige Heimatland. Bei den Maschinen handelt es sich um:

  • 91 53 0192 001-2 RO-UTZ = ex 91 80 6192 026-3 D-SIEAG; zukünftig Taufname „George Stephenson“ (englischer Ingenieur und Hauptbegründer des Eisenbahnwesens)
  • 91 53 0192 002-0 RO-UTZ = ex 91 80 6192 027-1 D-SIEAG; zukünftig Taufname „Karen Harrison“ (erste Frau in Großbritannien, die zur Lokführerin ernannt wurde)

Die Finanzierung der Neuanschaffung erfolgt via Unicredit Leasing. Firmenlogos und Taufnamen sollen ca. zum Monatsende angebracht werden.

Romania: Smartron Goes Into Service

The 192 003, delivered in early June 2020 to the Romanian rail freight company E-P-Rail S.R.L. as the first of four Smartron units (91 53 0192 003-8 RO-EPR), delivered in early June 2020 to the Romanian rail freight forwarder E-P-Rail S.R.L. as the first of four Smartron units, is now operating alongside its Softronic Transmontana sister units for the rail company S.C. CER – FERSPED S.A.

The locomotive, built by Siemens as the 927th “Vectron,” underwent test runs while still designated 91 80 6192 020-6 D-SIEAG—it was renumbered before being transferred to Romania. Incidentally, there is also a 192 003 in Germany at InfraLeuna—though it bears the NVR number 91 80 6192 003-2 D-LEUNA.

Weitere Smartron nach Bulgarien

Siemens konnte mit seiner Smartron-Platform einen weiteren Kunden in Bulgarien gewinnen. Nach der Privatbahn PIMK Rail hat nun auch die Personenverkehrssparte der Staatsbahn BDŽ zehn Loks geordert. Die BDŽ – Pătnitscheski prewosi EOOD hatte die Beschaffung im November 2019 publiziert – auf die an Siemens, Bombardier und Stadler versendeten Ausschreibungsunterlagen hatte sich nur der nun publizierte Gewinner gemeldet. Der Angebotene Pres liegt 3,5 % unter dem prognostizierten Wert von 57,5 Mio. BGN (29,38 Mio. EUR), zudem wurde die Garantie von zwei auf drei Jahre erweitert. Zum Lieferzeitpunkt ist aktuell nichts bekannt.
