"Transpetrol" Is Disappearing in Poland, Too

Everything under one name: Effective immediately, VTG is offering its customers in Poland rail logistics services under the name VTG Rail Logistics Polska. With the renaming of Transpetrol Sp. z o.o., VTG is establishing a unified market presence across Europe.

As early as 1992, VTG AG had acquired a majority stake in Transpetrol GmbH Internationale Eisenbahnspedition. Subsequently, the company—including its Polish rail logistics operations—was fully integrated into the VTG Group.

Transpetrol was founded in Hamburg in 1987. In 1992, VTG AG acquired 51 percent of the shares from Deutsche BP AG; Kühne & Nagel Beteiligungs AG held 20 percent at the time, while another 29 percent remained with BP. This BP stake was transferred to the then-DB Cargo AG in 1998, which sold it to VTG in 2002. After the Austrian subsidiary Transpetrol Austria GmbH had already been converted into VTG Rail Logistics Austria GmbH as of October 1, 2014, the company decided on May 20, 2015, to merge Transpetrol GmbH with VTG Rail Logistics Deutschland GmbH.[1]
