From many years there is a crisis in the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) for operating locomotives. Actually, in the past few years there were moments where many trains were canceled due to a lack of operating loco or EMU/DMU. That’s why was taken the decision to hire locos from the private railway operators in Bulgaria, at least until the crisis is overcome. For now only the ex-DSB loco 86 014 (EA 3000) owned by DB Cargo Bulgaria will be used for rapid trains 1611/1614 (Sofia – Svilengrad – Sofia).
